Nestled in to the side of steep hill this courtyard garden was designed to give the clients shelter from the prevailing westerly winds. The home is set on the dry hills south of Blenheim yet we have managed to create a frost free pocket here so we can grow sub tropicals such as banana, pineapples, gingers, heliconias and many more interesting large leafed plants that just normally grow here. The reset bays hold a bar with BBQ and the other holds a customised day bed that quickly transforms into a sofa that comfortably seats 9.
Local stones from the vineyard clad the steep sided bank and form a series of waterfalls that cascade into the rocks pools below. This peaceful haven is far from the hot dry windy plains below.
